THE INSIGHT - CHAPTER 1

   CHAPTER ONE

He rechecked his reflection from the screen of his android phone and liked what he saw. He readjusted his tie just to be sure he's presentable enough to go in for the interview. He looked around and wondered if he's ever going to be taken for the job almost 50 people applied for but he still kept his hopes up.

"Mr Adekunle Johnson!" called a lady that will probably be in her mid 40s

His face brightened up, followed by a faster heartbeat. He stood up and felt his legs shake.

"That's me Ma" he replied with a smile

"You can go in now. The panel is waiting to attend to you" the middle-aged lady said, immediately she turned back and walked into the conference room.

"Good morning sir" she greeted with a smile as she collected his briefcase from him.

"Morning Miss Ifedayo" he replied, then paused for few seconds, taking a good look at her. "I thought i sent a message over the weekend that we will be going for a business lunch by 1pm"

"Yes sir, i got the message. I postponed all your appointments around that time and........

".......that wasn't why i asked" he cut in. "I'm wondering if you'd be going to the business lunch like this" he said pointing at her from head to toe.

She took another look at herself in amazement.

"Yes sir, i will. Is there anything wrong with the way I'm dressed sir?" she asked innocently.

"Hmmmmmm" he sighed and walked into his office. She shrugged her shoulders and followed him.

"Can i bring your itinerary for the day sir?" she asked after dropping the briefcase.

"Yes please" he replied without taking a look at her.

She hurried back to her desk and found out her phone has been ringing, she checked the dialer's name and saw it's her fiance. She picked it immediately, to hear the expected good news.

"Hello dear. How was the interview?" she asked almost immediately.

"Babe, guess what?!" he screamed at the other end of the line. "I GOT THE JOOOOOOB!!!"

"OH MY GOD!" she screamed and immediately lowered her voice to prevent disturbance. "I'm so happy for you dear. You see prayer works"

"Yes oooh i can see babe........by the way, ain't you at work?"

"I am ooo. Just came to take my boss's diary when i saw your call"

"Okay, don't let me distract you then. I'd give you the full gist when we see later in the day"

"Alright. Do take care of yourself" she said as she ended the call. She smiled to herself and hurriedly took the diary and went back to her boss's office.

Dayo and Kunle have been in a relationship for 2yrs. They both met during their youth service. Dayo got a job through her Uncle's connections 6months after service while Kunle was still on the lookout for one. Dayo tried to convince Kunle that they can get married despite him being jobless, afterall she has a job that could still maintain them pending the time Kunle finds a job but Kunle refused, based on the fact that he can't be living off his wife. So they both got into prayer and fasting for Kunle to get a job.

Happiness was visibly written on Dayo's face throughout the day. Even her boss couldn't help but wonder, including their business associates. At least, this deviated their attention from her mode of dressing to her lightened up face.

Ifedayo was born and brought up in a Christian family. According to her, she never for once deviated from the faith, not even when she was in school. She was termed the odd and strange one, even in her fellowship. Not only is she different in terms of beliefs or behavior, but also in the way she dresses. She was raised by an introverted mother who believes, dressing in 'one kind of way' brings wrong people into your life.

She could vividly remember one occasion where her mother told her cousin never to come visit them again because anytime she does, she leaves the house smelling like a boutique. Dayo also grew up hating the smell of perfumes and the likes and so she doesn't use them because according to her, they were manufactured for unbelievers.

Dayo isn't the kind of girl you'd see moving in a clique. She doesn't have friends, most of the time she's on her own. She met her only friend, Bola during her service year and both has been close since they left camp. Unlike Dayo, Bola is outspoken and exposed but Dayo never give her a chance to 'corrupt' her.

Obviously, Kunle is the first guy Dayo will ever let down her guard for. Throughout her stay in school, she never had a boyfriend. The male friends she kept were the ones who teach her when she doesn't understand a topic and of course, also brothers in the fellowship. Her meeting with Kunle is something we will call a divine arrangement and both of them were convinced they are meant for each other.

Kunle on the other hand is a good child of God too. He was a drummer in his fellowship in school, attractive, tall, handsome, smart and focused. He vowed never to have any girlfriend throughout his stay in school so he'd be focused on his studies and even though he had a handful of ladies in the fellowship that wanted him, he still managed to keep to his vow. Immediately he sighted Dayo on camp, he knew immediately that she's the one for him.
