THE INSIGHT - CHAPTER 6
Chapter 6
It took Kunle and Dayo a week to finally settle the misunderstanding they had. Kunle had to apologise since Dayo believed she did nothing wrong. Things went back to normal as usual, even though their wedding date is still out of sight.
"What exactly are you waiting for?" Dayo's mother blotted out angrily on the phone. She had called Dayo very early that morning and asked how far they are with their wedding plans. She flared up when Dayo told her there are no visible plans yet.
"Mummy, we are on it" she tried to calm her down.
"For how long? If you people need help, you should carry the whole family along. By the way, what is Kunle's parents doing about it"
"I don't know mummy. Kunle hasn't told me anything yet......"
"At least, we should have done the introduction by now" she cuts in
Dayo sighed
"You people must start making plans. At least Kunle can't give the excuse of not having a job now" she said as she dropped the call abruptly.

He had just successfully parked his car at a suitable spot in the parking lot, then he got his briefcase and got out of the car. He was locking the car when his phone began to ring. He managed to drop his briefcase to check who the caller was. It was Dayo.
"Hello babe. Good morning, how was your night? " he said immediately he swiped his phone to the left to receive the call.
"Morning Kunle. My night was okay, i trust yours was good too" Dayo replied at the other end of the line
"Yeah, it was"
"Are you at the office now?" she asked
"I just got out of the car. You?"
"Just finished dressing up" she paused, then continued "we need to see later today"
"Really? Okay, i'd come to your place immediately i leave the office"
"Alright, i'd be expecting you. Do have a nice day"
"You too dear. I love you"
"I love you too" she replied as she ended the call.

"Bianca, I've told you i don't have time for all these stress you are making me go through this morning all in the name of taking selfie. I have work to do" Feyi said half-jokingly. She's been in the parking lot for over 15mins taking pictures with her social media freak friend, Bianca.
"Just one more please. This one isn't hot enough"
Feyi agreed one last time and they both got out of the car.
"Remember you said you ain't gonna take long before you take me to buy that sexy shoe we saw yesterday" Bianca said, getting out of the car and adjusting her skimpy dress
"Yeah, i'd just have to drop you there and come back to the office" Feyi replied
Bianca suddenly sighted Kunle at the other side of the parking lot. She tapped Feyi.
"Is that not the guy you invited to your party 2 weeks ago" she pointed
Feyi turned around, following her pointed direction.
"Yea he is. Kunle is his name" she replied calmly. She was about walking into the building when Bianca pulled her back.
"Aha, what did you do that for?" Feyi asked, feeling offended
"He's so handsome" Bianca blushed. "Hook us up na" she gave a flirtatious smile.
"There must be something wrong with you upstairs" Feyi replied, touching her head.
"aha! Now, i can see why you invited him to your birthday" Bianca uttered as she gave a mischievous laugh. Feyi looked at her ridiculously without replying, waiting for her to finish her statement.
"You like him" Bianca continued.
"Bianca, are you sure you haven't smoked something this morning?"
Bianca laughed again and winked at Feyi before she started walking towards the entrance of the building.
"This girl must be mad" Feyi uttered and hissed as she followed her.
Feyi met Bianca and Kunle talking on the stairs leading to the building. She stopped without taking a look at Kunle.
"Meet me upstairs when you are done talking with him" she said, sternly facing Bianca. She ignored Kunle's greetings and walked in.
"Don't mind my friend. She's always like that whenever i pull a string at her" Bianca said, immediately Feyi walked in. Kunle sighed and smiled, as he walked in with Bianca.

Kunle had just finished writing the report for the company's expenditure for the last week, in order to submit it first thing on Monday morning to Feyi. She had been so critical of him since the day she summoned him into her office and Kunle can't seem to lay his finger on the reason why she's like that.
He mistakenly raised his hands up and his leather wristwatch, which was a gift from Dayo on his last birthday reflected the bright light in his office to show the time. He gasped. He rechecked to confirm what his watch just showed him.
"It's 9pm already?!" he asked rhetorically. "oh my God! Dayo would have waited for ages"
He got up in a hurry, packed the flying documents on his table into his bag and headed for the door. He looked back and scanned through the whole office with his eyes just to make sure he's not forgetting anything. He won't be coming back there till Monday. He felt satisfied and rushed out.
Kunle had just gotten out of the company building when he realized his phone had actually been ringing but he was too much in a hurry to hear it ring. He checked the dialer's name just to see it's Dayo.
"Hey babes. I'm so sorry I'm not at your place yet. I'm just leaving the office now, i totally lost track of time" he said it all in one breath.
"It's okay dear. I'm expecting you" Dayo said at the other end.
"Alright dear. See you in like 30mins" he said as he ended the call.
He was still in a rush when his eyes suddenly caught the back figure of a lady standing in front of a car, checking the bonnet. He wanted to brush it away when he realized it was Feyi. His legs froze.
"What could she be here doing this late?" he thought, before moving close to her.
"Hello" he managed to say. He has been trying not to cross her part for days.
Feyi looked up. Her newly purchased Renault SUV 2016 Model has just stopped working. She's been trying so hard to find out what could be wrong. She just finished making a call shortly before Kunle got out, to her father's mechanic and the latter had promised to be there in 30mins.
"Oh! Mr Johnson!" she looked surprised after Kunle had managed not to give her a fright.
"You are still here?" she added, now facing him.
"Yes Ma. I was working on some documents upstairs" he said, scratching his head and holding his briefcase tightly like a thief was going to come snatch it soon
"Oh! That's so diligent of you" she managed to say, avoiding his gaze.
"So what's wrong with it?" he pointed to her car
"I don't know. It just refused to start when i wanted to go home. I've been at it for up to an hour now. I even called my Dad's mechanic and he said he can only be here in 30mins cause he lives very far" she sighed heavily
"Ok....let me take a look at it" he said, dropping his bag and folding up his sleeves.
Kunle's effort to make the car start proved abortive. He has an idea about cars as he grew up in a rugged neighborhood but the advancement of the car is quite complicated for him. The mechanic arrived some minutes later in a public transport. He paid the driver and the latter left. He greeted both Kunle and Feyi and started work immediately. Kunle, being a gentleman and also in a bid to get on Feyi's good books, stayed till the mechanic was done checking. He looked up after 15mins.
"Madam, I'm sorry but i don't think this car will work tonight"
"But why?" she said in a shock, then she continued "My Dad bought it as a birthday gift for me not up to a month ago"
"It has to go back to it's manufacturer Madam, because it's parts haven't been shipped into Nigeria yet" he explained further.
Feyi snapped her fingers in frustration. It was getting really late. She's tired, hungry and needs a lot of things presently.
"Well, i think the next thing now is to find a way on how to get out of here" Kunle finally said. He's been leaning on the nearby wall listening to the conversation.
"Yes, i think so too" agreed the mechanic.
"Alright. I'd just order for a cab" Feyi said, immediately dipping her hands into her bag to bring out her phone.
Kunle stepped forward like a prepared soldier.
"Can't i drop you off at home?" he offered
"I don't want to inconvenience you Mr Johnson since it's in the opposite direction" she declined.
"It's okay Ma. Trust me"
Feyi gave him a warm smile. It won't be bad if he drops her, besides she's not in the place to decline such an offer.
"Okay then. Let me just order a cab for him then" she said, pointing to the mechanic.

"What do you mean you won't be able to come anymore?" Dayo barked on the phone. She deliberately stayed up late just to wait for Kunle, now he has just called to cancel.
"I'm so sorry. I promise to make it up to you dear" he tried to apologized. Dayo ended the call abruptly. She's just too annoyed beyond words
